An additional part that I add in encouraging good behavior with
recorders is sort of like an initiation step. When the third graders
receive their recorders for the very first time (provided by the
school, I might add), I have hold their recorders in front of them
while repeating after me:

This is my recorder (class echoes)
There are many others like it (echo)
But THIS ONE is MINE! (echo)
