I've given up on disinfectants and have been asking our cooks to run the
recorders through the dishwasher daily. My kids are STRONGLY encouraged to
buy their own, and I will not even spray a disinfectant on a recorder to be
reused in another class. I don't want it coming back that my class is
spreading the flu around :-) Once they're cleaned, I do let kids buy used
recorders for a dollar. (These are recorders that have been donated or
abandoned by kids moving on). I'm seriously considering buying some Dollar
Tree ones just to have extras, although they're horrible in sound.

Hello, Everyone!

Has anyone been struggling with the issue of cleaning classroom recorders?
In the past, our general music staff has encouraged students to buy their
own recorders and have had extras available for those who don't purchase
them. They are then sprayed between classes with Roche-Thomas Mi-T-Mist
spray. In these days of H1N1, do we dare continue to do this?
