I decided last year to start my 4th graders on low E first and then G. We =
do tons of EG songs before we ever add A and B. I have found they grasp th=
e concept of L on top=2C R on bottom without question. They also seem to h=
ave better tone on the lower notes and have better hand position from the g=
et-go. My very first song is Engine=2C Engine. Other songs I have used ar=
e: Starlight Starbright=2C Apple Tree=2C and Doggie Doggie. There are endl=
ess EGA songs (which you could transpose easily) and it fits perfectly into=
a pentatonic setting for barred accompaniment.
